Sir David Attenborough at 100: A nation’s tribute
Sir David Attenborough has turned 100. Not many people have shaped the environmental movement quite as profoundly as Sir David. Merging cinematic wonder with unflinching scientific honesty, he has opened the eyes of many to the wonders and fragility of our natural world.
In talking with people as part of our research over the years, unsurprisingly Sir David has come up time and time again. Routinely hailed as a beacon of expertise, passion, and empathy, his unwavering ability to give a trusted and accessible lens into climate and nature is remarkable. The Independent’s celebration of David’s 100 years cites our research showing that he is trusted by people across the political spectrum.
To mark this milestone, we are spotlighting praise for Sir David from across our research and the environmental sector.
David Attenborough is very clever in his signalling, because throughout his shows, certainly over the last ten to fifteen years, he has beaten that drum, but he's done it in a non-patronising, informative way.

The global goal to secure 30 percent of land and sea by 2030 is the bold vision we need to create a sustainable future for people and nature. To celebrate his 100th birthday, we’re turning that vision into action. Many people and businesses across the UK are stepping out of the office and rolling up their sleeves to restore wildlife. When we all work together, nature can bounce back.
