Action on climate-linked migration and displacement

Download report

Strong action on climate change requires funding support to a diversity of organisations and networks, and so we work closely with funders to advise them on how to most effectively drive climate action. Funders working in the climate field are key influencers on which voices and stories are heard. For this report, we explored how funders can strategically and inclusively empower refugee and migrant led organisations working on climate-linked mobility.

We spoke with representatives of refugee and migrant led organisations in Africa, the Middle East and Europe, discussing drivers and barriers to participating in the political and policy debates about climate-linked mobility.

The result is a set of nine recommendations for strategic intervention by funders in this space. The recommendations address the specific concerns raised by refugee and migration organisations, as well as the ways in which climate change is likely to fundamentally reshape patterns of mobility.

This report was commissioned by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. The foundation works in the areas of health, education, and global issue and has invested 1.9 billion euros in charitable work since it was established in 1964.

Climate Outreach has been helping to raise the voices of refugees and migrants for 15 years through our Climate and Migration Coalition.
