Images that evoke negative emotions

In an online survey of 3000 people that formed part of the Climate Visuals research, people were asked to rate images according to the emotional response they produced (positive or negative). The images in this gallery were either tested in our research, and evoked negative emotions, or are similar to the tested images, are are therefore likely to be received in a similar way.

But it is important to ensure that the viewer can easily identify the protesters as 'authentic' and genuinely pressing for change, rather than potentially having a fun day out.⠀ ⠀ WHAT THE IMAGE SHOWS: Here campaigners from @foescot gather on Nicolson Street to demand clean air after the zone failed to meet Scottish Air Quality Safety Standards.
